How are people to respond to this constant barrage of alleged depravity, or men having or have allegedly behaved badly in the past?  What is to be the 'normal' or 'acceptable' reaction of women, of men, of little children, of older children, both males and females.   To watching and listening to th

'Large scale armed conflicts and wars, when they are being fought, history seems to tell us.  Tend to be fought  with little regard for the lives and humanity of those involve in them, and on whom and impacts on.   Beyond the point where such regard is believed to be compatible with the objectives and aspirations of the combatants.  Wars cannot be fought 'humanely', as the concept of 'humanity', of sanity, must, of necessity, be denied, in order to give the combatants the 'extreme permission' to take and sacrifice lives, in their attack humanity.  And so it is, that we should not expect the wagers of wars and conflicts to become sanitised in their actions.  Or to see humans, both their fellow combatants and the 'current enemy', as anything other than expendables.  Where it is believed that sacrificing them will enable the achievement of the sought after goals.' They function only or mainly in the this moment in time and space. It might really be the case that, sometimes, the best approach to take in trying to improve something, is to begin with the 'negative hypothesis.'   So, if your objective is to make, let us say, men, more considerate towards women and treat them as their equal, if not their betters.  Then, try beginning with the hypothesis that 'most men are misogynists, even though many might not be aware of their misogynistic nature.'  Similarly, if you want to encourage ordinary people to take more care of their local environment.   Then consider working with the hypothesis that, most people are really dirty and do not give a damn about keeping their environment clean and tidy. A multi-ethnic and multi-cultural community of the condemned, if you wish. Having taken in the ethnic and cultural mosaic which confronted him, and which is, indeed, the norm for visits to this particular prison.  The man, who himself was at least twice the young mother's age, returned to pondering her probably journey.  Which has taken her and her two children to what he knew, or felt he knew, would be a poignant meeting with probably the children's father.  As the man had another look down onto the road leading to the prison, from his elevated position, he noticed that it was a  nice bright winter's mid-afternoon.  Not a cold day. The man wondered how much better it might have been for this young family.  Had they had been able to have gone to spend the day sighting, or walking in a nice park.   Probably with the little girl feeding the ducks, if there were any in a nearby pond.  Or, he wondered, they might even have gone to do something even more
