TERRORIST OUTRAGE IN PAKISTAN - THE CURSE OF FUNDAMENTALIST RELIGIONS?
Strive to find your own truth, in your
search for fulfillment, and do not allow the 'truths' of others to become
your own, unless you have rigorously interrogated them and find them acceptable.
Religion is a destructive force in the
employ of ignorant and evil people.
Once again, innocent people in Pakistan
have been targeted by evil and ignorant people who have conspired to kill and
injure scores of them, using religious belief as a pretext for the mass killing
of innocents.
Religious extremism and intolerance, it
appears, continues to blight the lives of innocent people all over the world,
and no were more so than in the less develop and poverty stricken countries and
regions. There is enmity between Christians and some Muslims in Pakistan,
which, granted, is a bit more tolerant than some Islamic countries in the
Middle East, which does not allow any other faiths to exist or strive.
Christians, it seems, cannot feel safe in
some parts of Pakistan, because of the insecurity and political intrigues
of anachronistic politicians and members of the Islamic clergy.
These people have a vested interest in
keeping Islamic countries such as Pakistan in in the realm of the past, where
they find it easier to manipulate and control the masses through the
traditional power structure of the Tribes, Tribal leaders, the Imam, et al.
In my view, this is the curse of countries
such as Pakistan, and it is difficult to see how it and other countries can
extricate itself from the arrested development which it is trapped in.
Christianity, in my view, is a more enlightened religion than Islam, and, in
countries such as Pakistan, could help to pull that country out of the ossified
grip of religious intolerance. It is probably therefore not all that
surprising that Christians in Pakistan should be being targeted, and that the
Government of Pakistan should be finding it difficult to protect them; fearing
that it could result in a backlash from the Muslim fundamentalists and the
parts of the populace that they control.
We have seen the murder of Salman Taseer,
Governor of Punjab, in 2011, apparently because he sought to treat Christians
justly, and of Handery Masih, a MP and a Christian, in 2014. Both of these men were
killed by members of their body guard, which begs the question: is there a
conspiracy within the top and ruling echelon of Pakistan to silence the
Christians, and, if so, could there be a wider conspiracy within the larger
Sunni Islamic community, including IS?
It is clear that the evil men who are at
work instigating violence against Christians and Shias, in Pakistan, have no
shortage of mindless ignorant people to do their killing and wreak
destruction.
These weaponised murderers seems oblivious
to the fact that, where it pertains to God or Allah, it is not man's job to
accuse, judge and execute sentences on their fellow human beings, and that
killing innocent people is never consistent with obeying god or Allah.
You cannot achieve a good or virtuous
objective by way of doing evil. So, by that reckoning, all of the wrong-doers,
including the two body guards who murdered Masih and Taseer, would be going
straight to hell; if such a place had existed, outside the tragedies such as
the carnage at Gulshan-e-Iqbal Park, on 27/03/2016.
Pakistan would be a better country is it could evolve into a society
where people of all religious faiths could practice their religion, without
intimidation and compulsion by the state or any religious establishments. If that
requires the country to evolve into becoming a secular society, then that is
the challenge for all progressive forces in the country.
Let the gods, including Allah, fend for themselves, as they should be
better able to do so than us. We would not ordinarily expect our parents to use
us as the means to do their murderous works; neither should we ascribe such
desires to the god. Live in peace with your brethen.
Life can be simply; it is man's desire to control how it is perceived which is conflicted.
