DONALD TRUMP V HILLARY CLINTON - THE FIGHT FOR THE WHITE HOUSE

The grass might be greener on the other side, but the obstacle has to be overcome.

The battle for the White House is now drawing towards the penultimate stage, with the Republicons having selected or having the electorate of the primaries selected their man for the Presidential Candidate.

Donald Trump has spectacularly defeated his 'establishment' rivals, and, in so doing, has forced the Republicon Party hierarchy to legitimise his candidacy and get the last of Trump's rivals to stand down. The likes of Ted Cruz and Kasich will have, at least privately, been advised to give up their torturous and embarrassing campaigns, in the interest of party unity.  They would have been told that they cannot win, and that the money being spent on their futile campaigns could be used to support Trump's campaign against Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton, and, eventually, the Republicons against the Democratic Party.

A marriage or alliance of expediency has been forged between the orthodox Republicons and the unorthodox or 'insurgent' Republicons, led by Trump and his backers and supporters. The Donald might be a 'son of bitch', a 'racist', an 'Islamophoe', a hater of Mexicans,  a misogynist who, had it not for his money and status, few self-respecting women would aspire to be in his company, he might be a political novice and even fraud, but 'he is ours, he is a Republicon one.'

Donald Trump has now been fully adopted by the Republicon Party establishment, and it will now go about 'sanitising his image', and present him to all the American people and to the world, as 'a decent man'; an 'American Patriot' who can 'make America Great Again', and 'lead the free world again.'

The Donald will be beatified by the Republicons, as the man who has a vision of returning America to her former days of unchallenged 'greatness' and glory. The electorate will be told that Donald Trump has been misunderstood and misrepresented by the left and by America's enemies. They might even be told that Trump can admit that he might have gone too far on some of his misogynistic, Islamophobic and racist comments and innuendos, but that he is a honest, plain speaking American hero; a man who puts America first and who wants to roll-back the expansion of government.

In preparing Trump as a credible candidate, the Rep[ublicon strategists and tacticians will  brief Trump on what is happening in the world and make him into a more credible and autonomous 'dummy', while the powerful elite pull the strings in private. We might have to wait awhile to see if the Trump camp has anything of substance to contribute towards issues such as Blacklivesmatters, reform of the penal and judiciary system, healthcare, and foreign policy.

Trump does not have any experience of working as a government functionary, so he and his backers will continue to magnify the relevance of his business expertise to the running of the Union. He and his team will continue to go after Hillary Clinton and magnify all her failings while she was in government, including her role in the Libyan debacle, and the controversy over her emails. Fox Muse will be let loose on Hillary, as they and the rest of the right wing press and media are unmuzzled and diverted  from attacking Donald Trump to supporting him.

Yes, this fight for the White House is now going to become much more bloody, and I fear that  Hillary's achilles heel could allow the Repubs to make a more effective attack on her. Unlike John Kerry, Hillary cannot point to any notable successes she has had as Secretary of State

Just as how the unexpected successes and eventual triumph of Donald Trump has forced the Republicon Party to reconsider their nomination tactics and strategies, so does the Democratic Party needs to carefully reconsider theirs; including whether Bernie Sanders would not allow the Party to stage a more effective, and, eventually, successful campaign against Donald Trump.

Just as how the Republicons are going to endeavour to transform Donald Trump into being perceived to be the 'Saint' he clearly is not, so they will go to the wire to make Hillary into the 'demon' she is not. The problem is that, in politics, 'perception' is or can be more powerful than the 'truth' or 'objective reality.'

Bernie Sanders, on the other hand, does not appear to have any of the baggage which is weighing down Trump and Hillary. Yes, we know that the right wing media and press will attempt to demonise his socialist leanings, but the American people are now more politically literate and are not going to be put off by baseless fear-mongering.

The case for making The Bern the Democratic Presidential Candidate has just been made stronger, and the Super delegates and the Democratic Party establishment should take not and act.
