IF AMERICANS CHOOSE DONALD TRUMP TO BE THEIR PRESIDENT, WOULD IT MEAN THE WORLD IS COMING TO AN END?

What does Donald Trump and his backers mean by "MAGA", and at whose and what cost is it to be achieved?

Donald Trump is the billionaire Republicon presidential nominee for the Presidency of the United States of America.  In the unfortunate event of him winning the 2016 Presidential election in November, he would have the distinction and probably notoriety of becoming the 46th President of the USA.  Should that happen, it might not be as cataclysmic an event as, as I just heard my partner bemoaning, "the world is coming to an end", but it could be something quite close to that.

Is it then likely that, Donald Trump could be the 'anti-Christ'', Damian? And, if he is, who is going to protect the world from the pain which this man, who postures and has been presented as 'a buffoon', but clearly has the venality to become probably the most reckless and dangerous President, if he were to be  elected to the White House?

When we consider the journey of Donald Trump from property magnate to the besieging of the White House, it does not really tells us of something which is unprecedented, but more about something aspirational and even phenomenal; a bit like, but not quite similar to the journey which Barak Obama has made in his presidential journey to the White House. In some regards, both men have some things in common and some things which are not.

Barak Obama is an African American of White and black parentage and middle class status, who aspired towards becoming President of a country which, he, most probably, would declare to the be greatest nation; notwithstanding its short-comings, which he has aspired to change or rectify. He had aspired towards bringing Americans of different backgrounds, ethnic and religious origins more together.

Donald Trump, on the other hand, is a white billionaire not previously known for his political interests, grasp of international affairs, or his speaking eloquence, but who has a lot of credibility for making money. Unlike President Obama, Donald Trump has declared that it is his aspiration to "make America great again", thereby suggesting that it is 'not great now.'

Again, unlike President Obama, Donald Trump seems to  see Muslims and Mexicans and Latino as a threat to the vision of the 'great America' he wants to build, and has declared his intention to build 'a great wall' between the United States and Mexico, which he said he intend to charge to Mexico, while using solely American labour to build it.

Except for his emphasis on bringing back jobs to America and American workers, Donald Trump seems to be a steadfast supporter of the status quo in America, especially as it pertains to issues of 'law enforcement', the oppression of women, the oppression and criminalization of African-Americans, and the netherworld status of migrants in America.

And so we can see that, in his intention to achieve "MAGA", or his concept making America great again, Donald Trump is thinking about what we can define as raw power; the kind which pays little regards to human rights, especially that of the people he despises and/or presumes to do for political capital, such as the Mexicans, the migrants, Muslims, African Americans.

The kind of raw power which will use military might to force or try to force weak or weaker countries into submission, and which appeals to nationalism. Donald Trump, to a great extent, is a leader who appeals to the baser motivations of humans, real as they are, and tries to simplify them, as if they can be achieved without costs to self and to others.

Probably one of the most disconcerting and frightening outcome of Donald Trump's running for the Presidency of the United States, is the manner in which he has demonises himself, have it confirmed by his Republicon Party. And for him to then succeed in having that Party, for reasons of expediency and pragmatism, anoint and beatified him as their presidential nominee, after he has succeeded in beating its 'establishment' challengers for the presidential nomination.

This, in my view, it the most worrying aspect of this presidential campaign; indeed, I do wonder how it compares with aspects of Hitler's rise to power in Germany in the 1930?  Does it denote a certain moral decadence within the American public and political establishment?

And so, I believe, that we now have to hope that the American electorate will present Donald Trump and the vested 'big businesses interests behind him, with their 'Waterloo' and their 'Gettysburg' defeat in November, and not allow the curse of Donald Trump to occupy the White House.

That requires Hillary Clinton and the Democrat Party and all progressive Americans to step up to the plate and vote for the Democratic Party candidate. This will be an election where every vote will count and the outcome of the election, like Britain's Brexit vote, will have massive negative implications for Americans and the world.

In other words, if Donald Trump and the Trumpeteers win, America and the world will lose.

No American electorate should behave as a 'bystander' in the November presidential elections, as every vote counts and the outcome will be of enormous consequences.
