TURKEY'S TAYYIP ERDOGAN'S COUNTER-COUP - COULD IT BE THE REAL COUP?

The eyes saw what happened in Turkey's 'convenient coup', but we have only the account of the government to go on.

Yes, it really is the case that we should give some consideration to whether the President of Turkey, Tayyip Erdogan, might have had a hand in the botched coup which apparently tried to overthrow his regime.

Similarly, might there have been a more sinister reason for 

Mesut Yılmaz replacing Mehmet Davutoglu'

Yet, the very thought of it being so seems so incredible that we might automatically want to consign it to our over-active peurile imagination.  After all, the coup attempt did result in the death of over 300 Turks, the injuring of many more, and some destruction of property. As well as rudely reminding Turks of a time in their not so distant national past, which was so painful that has probably traumatise some of them. 

If it was intended to be 'a make belief' coup, bloody as it still was, would the plotters, including members of Turkey's government, really accept the deaths of all those people as 'necessary price to pay, in order to give President Erdogan and his government the opportunity to stage a 'counter coup'?  If so, for what purpose, considering that he appeared to have been very successful, sofar,  in making himself and his worldview, his weltanschauung, an apparently ineradicable feature of the Turkish state apparatus.

Having been in power for about 14 years now, it is would appear that Erdogan and his Justice and Development Party colleagues want to overtake the Republican People's Party as the longest ruling political party in the country's parliamentary history. If so, they have only another 10 years to go, and Erdogan, by his previous and 'post-coup' reactions and intentions, is stacking up the cards to give the JDP the maximum chances of achieving his Party's objective. Whether or not he achieves it, time will tell.

So,would President Erdogan and his acolytes really setup an 'agent provocateur coup', knowing that it would result in the deaths of innocent Turks? 

Surely, the man and his yes men and women could not have been so ruthless; so callous and brutal? Could they?  We have seen how the President, using the same army which has apparently attempted to overthrow him, laid waste to Turkish Kurd areas of the country, in his unnecessary and brutal war against the PKK, which has resulted in the deaths of hundreds of people. Similarly,  President Erdogan's decision to  replace his former Prime Minister, Mehmet Davutoglu with Mesuf Yilmaz, might have been more sinister than might have previously appear to have been the case.

But, would he and his people go so far? We have seen how little compassion he showed towards the scores of people who were killed in bomb explosions in Ankara in October 2015, which targeted demonstrations by Turks who opposed their government, so, it is not entirely inconceivable that Erdogan's regime would rule out a 'tactical coup', probably in an attempt to get his opponents to show their hands, and provide him with the sine quo non for him to have his 'coup par excellence.'

The speed with which he and his government are going about 'purging ' Turkish society and arresting those they define as their enemies, could suggest that the government has been planning this kind of action for quite sometime before 'the coup', and was just waiting for the pretext to put the plan into action. Was it a matter of coincidence that Erdogan just happened to be presented with the right opportunity to progress his desire to become the  'Anti-Ataturk', or did he contrive the opportunity?

Yes, it does seem rather byzantine in its concept and execution, but this is Turkey, post-Ottoman Turkey, which has a history steep in palace intrigues and perfidy.
