A THOUGHT FOR NOW - THOSE LITTLE ANNOYING AND IRRITATING THINGS WHICH PAINS US SO MUCH

It would be more helpful if we were to focus more on the little positive things in life, which we tend to take for granted, and focus less on the little negative ones which have already cause us such pain as a result of them occurring and us spending more time bringing them back to life.

There are times when we magnify the small irritating and annoying things which befall us in our daily living. These things which, despite  our best attempts to control them and accord them the ‘insignificance’ which they probably are, individually, collectively exert power over emotions and are able to inflict serious pain on our mental and social lives

As we approach the flare up, we almost automatically begins to gird ourselves for it, by digging deep into our memory recall facility to search for previous ‘individually insignificant’ but annoying and irritating things which this person had done to us, and which we had overlooked or had not ‘made a meal of’ in the past.

Having found and fortified ourselves with ‘this evidence’ of how we had been ‘wronged’ in the past, and had been magnanimous in dealing with them with humility and lack of acrimony, but how we now has to take a stand to avoid being treated contemptuously, we make our initial attack. But only to be met by a surprised and flabbergasted foe, someone who simply has been taken unawares by what they might see as an irrational reaction or response from us.

Let us focus on the inspiration and the euphoria we can get from the little positives

Yes, they are shocked and probably frightened by our sharp reaction to something they had done or said, or even believed to have said or done. Something which, shorn of the life which its accumulated emotionally charged perception and history had given it, is, yes, relatively insignificant, now becomes a detonator of an emotional bomb.

And so, with our perceived sense of being slighted, taken for granted and/or being ‘persistently’ disrespected, we attack, and are attacked, by the defensive reaction of the other person, who, at that point in the interaction, probably had not had the time to reflect and make a more measured and ‘adult’ response.

Let us try to turn the tables today, and/or tomorrow, and magnify and empower the small positive and beautiful things we encounter and have encountered in living.  Let us endeavour to, cumulatively, use them to enrich our living and strengthen our resolve to more effective counter those irritating and annoying things which we sometimes perceive to be more powerful than they really.
