AN IMAGINARY CONVERSATION WITH GOD. PART 5
This is a continuation of Taku's imaginary conversation with God
T.: So, G,why did you decide to create the
Earth?
Well, now T, have you ever felt lonely and
alone? Yes, I know you have, and I also know that you know that I do know that
you have felt alone and lonely at times. Having, according to the ‘creationists’,
created humans, I am privy to their, to your innermost thoughts, or so you
might have me believing. So, having come into existence from the clouds and
dust which predated me, I was astonished by what I could see and sense and
feel. And, I thought to myself, or we, as have been mentioned in the Book of Genesis,
what should I do with my time for all eternity?
And the answer came to me as a vision; why not create a universe, so
that I could have control over it and occupy and amuses myself with it?
And so it was that I created, or, according
to the ‘creationists’, came to be attributed with the creation of the earth.
T.: If we could move on to the matter of
Eve, now, G. In the Christian Bible it is noted that you caused a deep sleep to
come over Adam before you removed a rib from him and then fashioned it into a
woman, Eve. Did you not think of making a help mate for Adam at the time you
made him, and, if not was that a slip up?
G.: Ah, T. What can I say? Yes, it is true that I should
have know that Adam would have needed an help made and made Eve at the same
time as I made him, but, honestly, I really cannot give you a rational
explanation for my oversight. I can understand if, at least, according to the
narrative of the Bible, you get the impression that I simply made it up ad hoc
as I went along with this creation which I am credited with, as opposed to
having a master plan which I had designed before hand.
I could tell you that I specifically wanted
to remove a rib from Adam to make Eve, so that she would always be reminded of
the fact that she had come from him and owes her existence to him, and has to
submit herself to him. Yes, I could tell you that, but it would not be true,
because it would and should have been sufficient for me to say, Eve, I am The Lord
Thy God, and I command you to obey and submit yourself to Adam, whom I
have given dominion over all living things, and it should have been so.
I know that we will probably later go on to discuss whether I have given more or less power or status to women, and what that signifies about me, but we will get to that in due course.
So, no,
I cannot give you any other answer than to say, yes, I did made it up as I went
along, and that there was no ‘master plan’, rather a matter of learning and
developing my creation through a process of ‘trial and error.’ I looked upon Adam and knew that he was
lonely, even as I had been lonely and turned to creating the earth and the
heavens, to inspire me, give me joy and stop me from going insane from my
loneliness.
Probably very much as you humans would later invent and develop your inventions as you become more like the gods; like me,
T.: Well, thanks for that clarification, G. I appreciate your honesty, and the fact that, yes, it is really the prerogative of the authors of the Book of Genesis to provide humans with a definitive answer to some of the questions I am and will be asking you. Unfortunately, as you have noted, the are not present to provide us with the clarification I am seeking; which means that the events they have cited cannot be authenticated.
