A THOUGHT FOR NOW - CAN THE WORLD CONTINUE TO LIVE WITH THE THREAT KIM JUN-UN POSES TO IT?

As Kim Jung-un continue to accelerate his nuclear arms tests and development, the thought which is probably on the minds of the leaders of many countries, especially those bordering North Korea, is that of what will he do next? KJU, it has to be remembered, is like a spoilt and defiant child who came into possession of a lot of extremely dangerous toys, including a military force of hundreds of thousands of armed men and women, and, probably of even greater concern, the capability to make nuclear weapons. Not only to make them, but probably the inclination to use them.

Of course, he might be comparable to such a child, in his use of his despotic powers, but he has the power of an absolute ruler.

Kim Jung-un is no ordinary man; he is a brutal dictator who is not only mercilessly threatening and oppressing the people of North Korea, but he is also threatening the world. Quite simply, or, more precisely, this brutal and probably psychotic despot is holding nuclear weapons to the head of the world, and nobody can have any confidence in him having the good sense not to use them, at some point.

For all their diplomatically measured reaction to what is going on in North Korea, one can imagine the Chinese, the South Koreans, the Russians and Americans, and NATO, being extremely worried, and wondering what they should or should not do. What, they are wondering, would have the desired effect on this sadistic and wounded elephant?  Should they increase sanctions against the regime, at least, if they still have the capacity to do so, considering that they have been doing so for years now?

If they increase sanctions on KJU, might that not push him off the edge and provide him with the raison d'tre to do something 'stupid', such as attack South Korea? Should they launch a pre-emptive attack on KJU's nuclear facilities, and would the cost of doing so be less than that of the unknown cost of waiting and not knowing if, if left alone to continue to develop his nuclear arsenal, he might not launch a nuclear attack against, not only South Korea, but any of his other neighbours and even the US?

All of which begs the question; would the world be a bit, probably even a lot less unsafe, if Kim Jung-un were to be made to embrace his destiny, sooner rather than later?

Is it likely, therefore, that the secret services of his protagonists - and, hopefully and preferably, people in North Korea - are making arrangements to expedite his departure?
