A THOUGHT FOR NOW - "DEPLORABLES"? HILLARY CLINTON OUGHT TO HAVE KNOWN BETTER!

For a professional politician, Hillary Clinton made a surprising and even shocking mistake in labelling half of Donald Trump's supporters as "deplorables." The prudent and experience politician should always, always aim their  fire at their opponents, and rarely directly at their opponents supporters.

You might not be able to convince your opponents' of the errors of their ways, but you should always be hopeful of convincing your opponents' supporters of the errors of following the errant persons in whom they have placed their hopes and trust.

See them as being seduced by your deplorable opponents, but never as being themselves deplorable or as being beyond redemption. After all, these are people whose votes, whose support you need, and the challenge, for you, Hillary, is to convince them that it is in their best interests, and that of their country, to support the virtues, the responsible policies you purportedly stand for.

The goal of the prudent politician is not to convince his/her captured audience and supporters to vote for him/her, but simply to reiterate for them the fact that you still stand for what you have always stood for, and more, and that you remain worthy of their continuing support.

It is the voters who are opposed to you and your policies, those who do not know whether they should still vote for you, and those whose minds are not made up as yet, whom you, the prudent candidate should be targeting.

And so it is that one might perceive Hillary Clinton to targeting and directing her destructive fire onto the voters whom she should be doing her best to seduced  and attract.

As I said, this mistake is most surprising and inexplicable for a seasoned professional like Hillary Clinton. Is it a sign of her frustration; does she feel that she is not making the progress or impact she should be making in attracting voters?  She should not be thinking of Trump's average or ordinary supporters as her enemies, but as potential supporters whom she needs to make into actual supporters. That is her challenge, and the challenge of the Democratic Party.

In endeavouring to achieve and maintain a successful living, remember that it is not so great a thing when you do good for your friends or them for you, because that is what make you friends; your friendliness. Just be grateful that you have friends like your friends and they you. However, when you are moved to do good for those whom you have hitherto seen as your friends, or perceived as your enemies and they you, it is then that you should or can more truly think of yourself as being magnanimous.
