ROSBERG AND HAMILTON - THE BATTLE FOR THE MALAYSIAN GRAND PRIX. CAN LEWIS CLINCH IT?

As we approach the Qualifying for and the Malaysian Grand Prix, on Sunday, many of us will be contemplating the outcomes of both events. Namely, can Lewis Hamilton control his demons and take Pole position in the Qualifying, and, if he does so, is he going to demonstrate the consistency which is needed for him to convert it into P1 position on Sunday?

 Others will be contemplating whether Rosberg will be able to build on his, sofar, remarkable consistency of command over the past 3 consecutive grand prix and add a fourth win on Sunday.
It is quite clear that both drivers has the capability to attain Pole position on Saturday, and convert it into a win on Sunday. However, over the past few races, it is only Nico Rosberg who has been demonstrating the level of driving mastery required to convert the one into the other, and even converting, in one race, a P2 Qualifying into a race win.

 And so it is, that it is Lewis Hamilton who is going into this weekend's Qualifying and Grand Prix, having to fight and win, not only one race, but two - to defeat his 'confidence and fear demons', so that he will attain the focus and oneness with self, car, team and track, which he needs to win the Malaysian Grand Prix.

Of course, the Sepang Grand Prix is not just a 'two car' race, so, both Hamilton and Rosberg will not just have each other to contend with. They will also have all the other intrepid racers. Like Ricciardo, Verstappen,  Vettel, Bottas, and all the others whose good fortune it might have been fated to be realised in Q3 and/or on Sunday's race.

 Yet, as much as it would matter greatly to any of the other drivers, were any of them to win the Sepang Grand Prix, it is the case that the real contenders for the 2016 Formula 1 Championship, are none other than Rosberg and Hamilton, and it is on their performance which the eyes of all fans and the spectators will be focused; mostly.

 So, can Hamilton begin to climb back up on the ladder from which he has slid, by taking Pole position on Saturday, and place himself in an advantageous position to win the race on Sunday? And, if he does take Pole, can he take it to the next level and demonstrate the consistence he needs to show and convert it into winning the race? Of course, with any necessary contribution which the gods need to make, by enabling the best driver on the day to win? 

Yes, the pressure is on, and it will require all his driving skills, including 'hammering', to be combined his ability to free his mind of all conflict and placing himself in the 'zone of awareness and tranquility.'

 And what of Rosberg; will he be able to maintain the performance consistency and mastery which he has been consistently demonstrating, and which has been rewarded by him having regain the lead for the Championship? Yes, all he has to do, it would appear, is to continue to do what he have been doing.

 All we can do is wait and see what the drivers and the gods will do on Saturday and Sunday, and know that it is going to be the driver who does the business best, who will most probably win Sepang 2016.


It is not our wishes that will determine the winner of the race, but rather how well each driver, especially the one who will win the race, performs, and his path being blessed with the help of the gods, if their intervention is needed.

 Let us hope that Sepang turns out to be a safe, exhilarating and enjoyable race for all the drivers and spectators.
