A THOUGHT FOR NOW - PHILOSOPHISING ON THE ATTAINMENT OF THE GREATER GOOD. P.1

It makes sense for humans to aspire improve ourselves and make our world a better habitation, and in truth, this is probably the aspiration of most, if not all, of us. And yet, daily we see the evidence accumulating and taunting us that this ideal of ours is nothing but a 'pipe-dream.' An aspiration which can never be fulfilled or be achieved, because the downward and negative forces in our lives are too overwhelming, to persistent and germane to our, human's, nature and characteristics.

That to be in conflict over one thing or another is what we humans are really about. That we are less inclined to climb the ladder of progress and enlightenment together than to climb it individually. Standing of the backs and heads of others, and when we reach the top, to pat ourselves on the head and exclaim with modest pride how hard we have worked and how me have done it mostly on our own.

Humans have done more than our bit to make living miserable, so we need to focus on the positives and beauty, as well.

The organisation of our civic living is, it seems based on competition in all spheres, instead of cooperation. Thus we have different political parties - which can be a good thing, if they can be made to work cooperatively - which foster divisions on the basis of political ideology, social classes and even different ethnic groups. Thus we have different religions, apparently serving the same deity or deities, but choosing to do so differently. And so we have one gender, men, normalising the oppression of women and lesbian, homosexual and transgender people. We use our innate differences, such as ethnicity, gender, skin colour and physical attributes to form theories, beliefs and the basis on which we related to the ranges of peoples within our common humanity.

And, not being satisfied with using our innate differences, such as ethnicity, to become the basis of conflict between us, we create different gods and and religious, and make them causes of conflict within our common humanity.

To be continued.
