A THOUGHT FOR NOW - WHAT WOULD ALLAH SAY ABOUT GOVERNOR AHOK PURNAMA BEING CHARGE WITH BLASPHEMY? PART 1

So, the Indonesian judiciary is currently proceeding with a charge of blasphemy against the Governor of Jakarta, Mr Purnama. Mr Purnama, of course, as well as being the Governor of that city, also happens to be a Christian. No, I do not know if he is a practising Christian or a nominal Christian who just happens to inherit that 'identification' because he was born into a Christian family.

Either way, it is likely that, Mr Purnama, like his Islamic detractors and persecutors, would have assumed his religious identity as a result of it being transplanted into Indonesia by crusading Christians and Muslims. Neither would have been indigenous to Indonesia.

Blasphemy, of course, are charges which the so-called guardians of religions and their particular gods, use to exert authority and power over other humans. It is they who determine when one is being irreverent, sacrilegious, or impious towards the gods. Whether one is desecrating this or that 'sacred or holy object'; notwithstanding the fact that all such objects have been written and/or made by man, and not god.

It being a fact that, any ascription of 'sacredness' or 'holiness' has been conferred by man, humans and not the gods, since no god has ever personally come forward and declare that he has made any relic holy or sacred.

So, what would God have said about the trial of Mr Purnama for 'blasphemy'?

Blasphemy, as opposed to the preaching of hatred towards a people because of their religious beliefs?

I suspect that god would want to know why it is wrong for anybody to analyse and criticise any religion, especially as it is through such interrogation that greater knowledge can be accumulated. I do not think that god or Allah would have felt threatened by anybody challenging anything which has been written about or has been attributed to him.

After all, is it not the case that different religions attribute different and contradictory things to god, depending on whether they are Muslims, Christians, Jewish, et al? Would god not therefore have to form the view that some religions are being 'blasphemous' towards him?

To be continued.
