THE BATTLE FOR ALEPPO; IS IT ALSO THE CRITICAL BATTLE FOR SYRIA'S SOVEREIGNTY? THE END.

Against all the odds, Syria might not any longer be about to become 'the last supper', to be divided, shared out amongst and dined upon by her neighbours and the proxy forces fighting on her soil. Not to be shared out between Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Israel, and the proxy forces of America, Britain and France. The West's intervention into another Middle East country has failed miserably; just as how it has failed in Iraq, Libya and Yemen.

It has failed because the intention and principle behind these intervention are misguided, nefarious and self-seeking. It has failed because the West, like the proverbial alcoholic, always promises to change but neither does so or appear capable of doing so.

Eastern Aleppo is being recaptured block by block, neighbourhood by neighbourhood, despite the shrilled but as yet unproven claims by the rebels and their American, French and British and Al jazeera's allies, that the taking of Aleppo will or would result in a greater loss of life and displacement of civilians, than say, Mosul, or Fallujah.

There is indeed massive destruction and suffering in Allepo, as well as other areas of Syria, but that should not be used as a raison detre for allowing this vicious war to stalemate and for a situation of 'no peace and no war' to become the norm.

It is highly likely that, just as how the West wants the rebels to remain in Eastern Aleppo, to provide it with the military and strategic asets it needs in in geo-politial plans, so do the rebels want the civilian population to remain, and provide them with some protection against the government forces. This is not a case of the rebel protecting the civilian population, so much as it is one of the civilians being used to help protect the rebels.

It is in everybody's - except probably for those rebels who glory in killing and dying - and Syria's interest for the war to be brought to as swift an end as possible, so that the process of reconciliation and rebuilding of Syrian can begin.

Let us hope that, by the end of this year, the light at the end of the tunnel for the Syrian proxy war will be shinning more brightly, and that, atleast by the second half of 2017 will prove to be the year when the military offensive will have been abated, and the battle for reconciliation, peace and rebuilding of this previously poor but proud and notable country, will again, see definite proof of its Star again ascending.

The people of Syria needs it, they need it more than they need the 'democracy' and 'freedom' for which the West has encouraged them to bring this calamity upon themselves; with all Syrians loosing.

Let it end; Now!
