THE SYRIAN PROXY WAR AND PRESIDENT OBAMA'S AILING LEGACY; HISTORY IS NOT AN IMPARTIAL JUDGE! THE END!

The President having failed to pursue a positive policy which would have seen America engaging constructively with the Syrian government, instead of the rebels and opposition forces, had chosen to meddle. We can speculate on what has been the actual and alternative cost of the West's meddling, to the Syrian people.

I would argue that, compared with what the Syrians have lost, the cost has been catastrophic, and that nothing positive has been gained by turning a national conflict into an international one.

It is the Syrians who will be left to pick up the pieces and start again, from a minus position, to endeavour to climb out of this void which this conflict has left in their lives and their country.

It would be a mischaracterisation to perceive the retention of Syria as a unitary and intact sovereign state, and, ipso facto, the retention of President Assad as its leader, at least until peace and stability has returned to the country, and the Syrian electorate are able make their choice of who governs them, through fair and transparent elections, as a failure of President Obama's administration or legacy.

Any failure on his part is not that of failing to overthrow the Syrian government and instituting more chaos and instability in the region. Rather, it would be due to the adverse effect of his and Nato's meddling. The rebels and the Syrian opposition, and those who support them, can blame Obama all the like, but each nation has to take responsibility for its own fate. This include the havoc which the rebels and the Syrian government have brought upon the the Syrian people, and avoid trying to relegate that responsibility to other countries.

America is not fit to be the 'world's policeman', because it has always sought to enforce own its own laws and to do so mostly, at least, in its own interest and not that of other nations,

At the same time, other countries, in this case, America, Britain and France and the Saudi Sunni coalition, should take heed of the ineffectiveness, injustice and pyrrhic cost of trying to determine the fate of other countries.

The West, when it comes to determining the developmental fate of other countries or nations, has proved itself to be a thoroughly incompetent midwife of 'democracy', with most of its 'patients' effectively dying or suffering permanent and massive damage through the violence inflicted on them, during the process.

And now, the priority should be for all the involved parties and people of goodwill to work to bring this tragic proxy war to an end, and to struggle for the peace, reconciliation and rebuilding of the Syrian nation, under the concept of many people but all belonging to one nation and a common destiny.
