JUST PHILOSOPHISING - JOB CREATION IS NOT INFINITE; WHILE HUMAN POPULATION CONTINUE TO INCREASE! PART 1.

Squirrel  'at work feeding', giving effect to the concept of being 'self-employed'?

For the ordinary human, getting a job and one which pays a decent or viable wage, is the primary means by which he or she is and will be able to keep destitution away, and their aspiration to have and live a good life, alive.

It has been said that it is all about the economy, but, while politicians and economists might be comfortable with that usage of the term, economics of the economy, for ordinary humans, it is having a job which is more easily understood. Although the objective of most of the working population having a job and earning a good or 'liveable wage', which then enable them to have a decent standard of living are essential ingredients for having a health economy, that is not the primary consideration or driver for us ordinary humans.

For us, wherever we are on planet earth, it is mostly about getting a good job, which might or might not have anything to do, at least, not directly, with being a job which contributes to human health and happiness per se. From birth to adolescence, and even beyond, the focus is to equip us, by education and training, to secure a good job in society, in the hope that we will be able to look after and provide a good living for our family.  And, in the case of many people of Asian philosophical and cultural outlook, their parents.

Thus might be the saying, 'work', 'work', 'work', be followed with corollary, 'jobs', 'jobs', 'job.'

Of course, to have jobs we have to have job creation, which tends, in my worldview, to be primarily congregated around enabling and performing the basic and essential tasks which any given society has to perform, in order to enable it to function at that basic level to which its citizens aspire.

Cat enjoying the 'view', at no direct cost and to the envy of humans?

With more evolved and progressive societies, there is an additional level around which job creation is able to coalesce. This, we might call, that of creating goods and services intended to make the living of the society's citizens easier, more enjoyable and aspirational.

Of course, outside of the context of meeting our basic needs, by directly providing for all that we need to 'survive' and even live, the purpose of having a job, has become that of earning money.

Advanced societies, however, have evolved in such a way that, like the human specie's continually urge to evolve in order to survive, so are we conditioned and shaped by our societal values and cultures to continually work, in order to, not only meet 'our needs individual needs', but also to ensure the survival and advancement of our societies. There is, as it were, a symbiotic relationship between us and the societies we create, with each having a 'pull and push' effect on each other.

To be continued.
