JUST PHILOSOPHISING - THE POWER OF GRIEF. PART 1.

Such are that condition of humans that, by virtue of us inheriting life through the process of evolution, are we also destined to experience lost and taste death.

And so are we fated to suffer the excruciating torment of grief, at some points in our beautify and miserable lives. Because, just as how life can be beautiful and pleasurable, so can it immobilises us with  the losses and grief we experience as a consequence of our living.

Be it the grief which we feel for a much thought of person or a loved one who has been called by destiny, or a partner who has ended a relationship in which we have invested so much of ourselves that we, on our own, no longer feel ourselves to be whole and viable.

Or be it a loved one or partner who has due to some circumstances over which they and/or us have no control, has temporarily or permanently been physically removed from our lives. Or probably a person who is known to us or a relative, who has suffered a life-transforming illness.

So, what is this grief which we can all feel? This inner torment which consistently jogs our awareness that we are missing someone, a significant part of our psycho-social state of being, and do not have the power to bring back the original status quo and rid ourselves of this acute and poignant feeling of having suffered a terrible loss?

This acute sense of becoming lost, as it were, by this feeling of numbness, of waiting for the Sun to shine again, as our days recede into what appears like ever longer and darker nights? As we balance precariously between the psychologically crushing force of our now disjointed realities, with nothing seeming to quite add up to an even number anymore?

When we find that, not only are we threatened by new and unrecognisable realities, all appearing to be upside down, to be broken and  unrecognisable, and too frightening and fearful for us to confront.

To be continued.
