A CONVERSATION WITH GOD? PART 3.

For thousands of years, humans, first the priests, shaman, and the clergy, and then the ordinary people, have sought to speak with the gods, and then for the gods, always being secure in the knowledge that the gods would not denounce what they have reported of these conversations. So, why have the gods remained silent? Why have the gods chosen not to speak for themselves?

G.: Ah, T! What can I say? Have you not considered the implications of you having 'an imaginary conversation with an imaginary god?

T.: By that observation, G, I surmise that you are inferring that I could be considered as somewhat mad or beside myself, as it were, if I were to be having such a conversation.

Yes, you are correct in making that observation, as it is one I have myself considered. But, no; I do not consider myself to be either mad or to be beside myself.

I do, however, acknowledge the similarity between us having such a conversation, and between the faithful and you having such a conversation.

G.: Well, T. Thanks for your honesty and frankness. If you can imagine me and what my responses or contribution towards this conversation would be, then I am not opposed to us having such a conversation.

You do, however, appreciate the lack of authenticity and verification which will be associated with this conversation, do you not?

T.: Of that I am only too well aware, G. In truth, I will be having more of a 'monologue' or ventriloquistic conversation.

With me not just speaking for myself, but attempting to speak for you, an imaginary god, as well.

For that, G, I declare that I mean no disrespect, it is simply that, with things as they are.

Such as you not being accessible to me in any other form than as an imaginary deity, I am limited to doing it this way.

G.: I hear you, T. Of course, this is also the methodology used by the faithful and the clergy.

They also speak for me as they speak of me and about me.

Sometimes what matters most is not that humans speak of me and for me, but what they attribute to me, to being 'my will', as it were.

T.: Point taken, G. I do hear you loud and clear, as it were.

That is something which I have always found both problematic and enigmatic. The fact that humans persist in speaking for you.

That they/we, have this tendency to imagine what it is you want to say, what we think you would have wanted to say in any given circumstances.

As well as what we really would want you to say or do.

To be continued.
