THE ARAB LEAGUE'S CONFERENCE - TIME FOR A NEW VISION? PART 2.

Do not misunderstand me. I am not arguing for the Arab countries to attack Israel and trigger off more massacring of the innocents and destruction of people's livelihoods.

We have seen enough of such pointless and ineffective episodes, and of how the Palestinians have suffered terribly. At the destructive military might of Israel.

Provoked, it has to be said, by the recklessness, homicidal and pyhrric policies of Hamas leaders.

No, the Palestinians will never gain their liberation and freedom through military action.

Hamas' leaders are, by not having learnt this lesson already, have shown themselves to be poor and inefficient students of the evolutionary and changing path of liberation theology.

Returning to the matter of Arab League.

One of the problem with the League is that it has allowed itself to become a relative irrelevance.

With as little credibility and support as the old Arab elites who are in charge of it. Except, probably as another organ through which Saudi Arabia and her alliance of Sunni countries, are able to exercise their power and influence in the region.

The Arab League conference had many young people, as usual, mostly men, attending it.

But it is the frustrated old men with outdated and unrealises visions, like King Salman Saud, like Al Sisi of Egypt, who are still in charge.

With elite young men being compromised by the nepotistic and corrupt ancient regime, without which, like the old men running it, they would not themselves have the privileges and power which they are now exercising.

Thereby being dissuaded by their vested interest in an archaic social system system, which they  otherwise might have sought to overthrow or radically reform.

As I watched the Al jazeera coverage, I  listened to King Salman talking about '.. praying to god' for something to happen.

Probably referring to his hope that his forces will prevail in defeating Houtis in Yemen.

Yet, King Salman need not waste his time praying to god, because god is not listening.

To be continued.
