THE PERSISTENT DESPAIR OF POLITICALLY DRIVEN FAMINE AND POVERTY! PART 1.

Famine and poverty are brutal and often man-made realities for tens of millions of people around the world.

But more often, a plight which afflicts people living in rural communities in the poorer parts of the poorer countries of the world.

Famine and poverty are social, political and military cancers. They appear to be ineradicable, irrespective of the fact that the charities which are fighting them.

After decades of evidence to the contrary, continue to make bold statements and pronouncements about how 'we can beat it'; famine and poverty.

When the correct interpretation of the evidence suggests that, while poor people continue to exists, famine and poverty will continue to exist.

Famine and poverty are, undeniably, facts of human existence. Over time, their hosts might change, but they will find new ones to afflict.

When we look at the conditions of world's population who are afflicted with famine and poverty, we can see a number of common factors at work.

Yes, there are the climatic one, such as the 'failure of the rain to come.' Followed by the failure of people's crops to grow.

Or, it might be the floods which have, with their unassailable and mindless power, destroy all in their paths, including people's crops, livestock and property.

There are also other 'natural disasters' which can inflict terrible destruction on the poor and less protected people of the world. Such as earthquakes and landslides, and volcanoes.

But even some of these 'natural disasters', are, at lest in part, 'man-made.'

Such as those arising from the pastoral  farmers, who, having since time immoral, been following the traditions of their ancestors in moving their cattle from one 'natural pasture' to another.

Have neglected to evolve and develop their animal husbandry techniques and strategies.

To take out some of the unpredictability and unsustainability involved, and make them more advanced and conducive towards modernity.

It seems to me that some, if not all of these 'traditional farmers' are living too much in the past and taking too much from the environment and putting back too little.

In effect, they have become 'reapers' and neglect to do any 'sowing' or sufficient 'sowing.'

It is not surprising that there is now conflict between some of these pastoral cattle farmers and settled communities who are farming the land which the roaming cattle herders want to claim.

Such as we are seeing in parts of Nigeria, for example. This is a problem which will probably only be resolved with increasing urbanisation and the, arguably, necessary destruction of the life-style of the 'evolutionary lazy' and innovative 'traditional pastoralists' and their worldview.

To be continued.
