A CONVERSATION WITH GOD. PART 9

For thousands of years, humans, first the priests, shaman, and the clergy, and then the ordinary people, have sought to speak with the gods, and then for the gods. 

Always being secure in the knowledge that the gods would not denounce what they have reported of these conversations. So, why have the gods remained silent? Why have the gods chosen not to speak for themselves?

T.: Indeed, G. Let us do so. Only been recently that I have heard Morgan Freeman, an American actor. 

Commenting on what he appears to see as the need for humans to have an 'image' of god, in order to be able to perceive and relate to him/her. 

You see, G. How do humans know how to refer to you, except on a 'human level.' 

Using all the conceptual, perceptual and other mental and physical apparatuses which are the tools with which we navigate our daily lives? 

Should humans refer to you genderically, as a he or as a she or as it? Or is this a case of you being neither what we humans call male, female, or bisexual?

How are humans to relate to you if they cannot visualise you? See you, touch you, perceive of your presence, hear and talk to you?

G.: And as you ask these questions, T. I sense that you, being a thinking person, is feeling a sense of discomfort. 

Because, although I do not claim to be any of the things which the scribes, the prophets and the priests have ascribed to me. 

I find myself, through you, as it were, wondering what is the significance of me being male, female or, as you put it, bisexual? 

What difference would it really make, whether I am male, female, bisexual or having no gender at all? 

Do humans really need to visualise themselves relating to a female or male or bi-sexual god or deity? 

If a person does good or evil, does it really matters, ultimately, whether such a person is a woman or a man? 

Would their gender add to or detract from their deed?

T.: Well, no, it would not, in the wider scheme of things, G. And yet, it really is the case that us humans do need something. A form or image, to concentrate and focus on, if we are to be denied the literal presence of god.
