JUST ANOTHER THOUGHT - IF YOU HAVE TO BE, BE.. PART 1.

All things in moderation, the preacher man and/or woman is reputed to have said or preached.

Which is not bad advice, as excesses, in whatever context or situation, is likely to be indicative of a state of unhealthiness.

Of the perpetrator/s of the excesses overindulging in what they are doing, to the detriment of themselves and/or others on whom their actions are impacting on.

Therein lies the case for moderation; to not to indulge in, probably literally, anything, to excess.

The proverbial gluttonous person overindulges in eating or drinking alcoholic or sugary drinks and becomes obese and misshaped and develops symptoms of unhealthiness.

The person who overindulges in gambling, places him/herself and their family at risk of loosing all their money and possession.

While others who overindulge in spending and borrowing place themselves at risk of penury

The person who works excessively places him/herself at risk of destroying their health, and of not having time to participate in and enjoy other pleasures in living.

Probably also risk dying sooner than they might have had, had they not become obsess with working.

Excessively indulging in anything places us at risk of becoming an addict, being addicted to our indulgence.

Which, again, I would argue, is not a good state to be in. It is not a balanced state, even if, as it were, our 'addiction' is to do 'good', to help people.

We still need to be moderate in what we do, and not to become addicted to doing it, which is, as I see it, several degrees beyond being 'obsessive' about our particular indulgence.

To be continued.
