JUST ANOTHER THOUGHT - IF YOU HAVE TO BE ADDICTED, LET IT BE TO.. PART 2

Easier said than done, you might interject, and understandably so. Yes, it can be extremely difficult for some of us not to become 'obsessive', 'excessive' or 'addicted to certain indulgences.

This might be a function of several things, including our particular type of personality, genetic predisposition, cultural and economic statuses, and traumas we have experienced.

Considering the complex aetiology of some of the factors which drive or even, fortuitously,  push us one way or another, it is sometimes unhelpful to be prescriptive.

So, regarding this matter, for now, let me just say this. If we have to be 'addicted', then let us endeavour to become 'addicted' to something which will do more 'good than harm' to us and others on whom our addictive indulgence will impact.

Become, if you will, addicted to maintaining good health. No, do not become addicted to maintaining good health, because an addiction is an illness, a state of ill-health, if you wish.

So one cannot become addicted to achieving and/or maintaining good health.

Just strive to become diligent in eating, drinking and doing daily exercises moderately. Endeavour to keep your cardiovascular and respiratory systems in reasonably good shape.

Strive to be disciplined in exercising moderation in all your indulgences, even when you consider them to be good indulgences.

To be continued.
