JUST A THOUGHT - PRESIDENT MADURO, PLEASE DO NOT BETRAY THE CHAVEZTAS REVOLUTION! PART1.

The people and government of Venezuela are in a terrible dilemma, with apparent total collapse confronting the country.

The government is blaming the opposition, both the national and the international opposition to its political and economic policies.

If the government is to have its own way, the country's problems are all the fault of the Venezuelan elites, especially the economic elites; the wealthier classes.

But, of course it is not that simple, with the dynamics being one of action and reaction. Causes and effects, in a continuous and interrelated chain of events.

It is also the case that, being the party in power, Maduro's government has to be counted among the elites. Definitely the political, if not also the economic elites.

It is also the case that the continuing crisis has been taking place during the Chavistas' rule, or misrule of the country.

No amount of banning of opposition leaders, or putting the police and armed forces in the invidious position of having to try to quell the anger of the people, is going to save the government.

The answer to the terrible plight in which Venezuela and her people have found themselves, or been placed in, to some extent, is not going to be resolved by the state becoming more repressive.

Hungry people need food to satiate their hunger, and they are not going to be satisfied with being told that it is all the fault of the business owners and the industrialists.

Similarly, not having the utilities and necessities which makes life liveable, is not something which the people are going to tolerate for an endless period of time.

The people need to know when they will have enough food in the shops to buy.

Just as how the owners of businesses need to know when they are going to be able to have the supplies which they need to buy to replenish their stores and shops.

Hungry people do not have the luxury to play politics. Or to be loyal to a government which is no longer able to feed them, clothed them and housed  and protect them.

The people will not support any given party or government, if that party  and government is not able to give and fulfil their hopes for a better life.

Now, it is the case that a given political party has to place itself in a position to get elected and form the government. If is it to make good its promise to do better than the existing government.

And it is the case that the people of Venezuela cannot be sure that the opposition parties, which are now promising them the earth and heaven.

If they win the election which they are agitating for, will be able to deliver on their promise.

But that is as it is and as it has always been; the fact that you never be sure that what is being promised is deliverable.

To be continued.
