JUST A THOUGHT - TURKEY, ERDOGAN AND THE WORLD. A CURIOUS RELATIONSHIP! PART 1.

It is clear that President Tayyip Erdogan of Turkey, sees his Turkey is still having a preeminent destiny in the world, which it is his fate to realise for the nation. It is also clear that he will use any means to achieve his objectives.

 Leaders of nations, it seems to me, oftentimes do not seem to realise that their country's destiny. 

 Will rarely ever be determined by the actions and omissions of their reign, unless subsequent leaders slavishly follow in their footpaths. 

 It is so presumptuous of humans to equate or behave as if they are equating their/our life-time with that of a nation, or with abstract time. 

 A period of 'greatness' in the life of a nation does not make that nation great for all time.

 One of the dilemmas for subsequent leaders, is that they must then try to exculpate or sanitise the evils and/or excesses of the now dead, historical leaders whom they wish to follow. 

 While they hold up the positive and constructive things they have done, and emphasis 'their greatness.' 

 And thus are such purportedly 'great leaders' place on a par with the gods.  And being accorded the honour of being 'father of the nation', or 'founding fathers.'

This is a dilemma which is now confronting President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.  As he carefully, but ruthlessly removes all perceived and actual obstacles to him making Turkey great again. 

 And put in place the essentials prerequisites for realising the 'modern' or contemporary version of the Turkey of old.

 Kemal Ataturk did not perform his role in maintaining the Turkoman Empire and carving out the foundation of present day Turkey.  

 Without inflicting great pain and injustices on both Turks and the other peoples whose lives and sovereignty were compromised and forfeited, in the process. 

 In short, you do not create and/or maintain 'a great empire.' Without inflicting a great deal of brutality and injustices on people, both within and outside of that empire.
