And, of course Nigerian and other women who are being so constrained and suppressed, should look to and fight for the day when they can say to the men in their societies: Fuck you, men! 

There is a lot more to living, than being married to, and being controlled and suppressed by you. 

I am a sentient person and I do not aspire to being suffocated by the shallowness of men. I desire and aspire for more; much more.

As Terry McMillan, in her book, Waiting to Exhale, has so succinctly observed of a certain type of men. "They do not hold themselves accountable to anybody for anything, they are getting away with murder when it comes to women. And we let them."

Women, in greater numbers, need to stop having men doing things to them, and justifying it, unconvincingly, on 'the traditions of our people, the teachings of our religion, etc, etc.' 

When your traditions and your religions disrespect and marginalise you, it is time to lessen their grip on you.

They need to live more for themselves, for the now and the future. To not continue to make themselves for slaves to 'traditions, customs and religious beliefs.' 

Which only or mostly serve those who have conjured them up and make the 'sacrosanct'; men!

 It is bad enough having to bow down to the gods men have set above them and you. 

 It is now time to free your minds and your perception of how things are, which is how men want them to be, and struggle to make them how you would have wanted them to be!
