HAMAS' 'CONCESSION' TO THE STATE OF ISRAEL - A SMALL BUT BIG STEP FORWARD? THE END!

Viewed in this context, the recent 'reformist' policy statement by Hamas, that it is no longer advocating the destruction of the State of Israel, but still opposes its right to exist, can be seen as a small but big step forward.

But it needs to make many more 'small big steps', if it is realise aspiration of the Palestinian people for an independent and viable State.

Not in 500 years time, but within the next 20-25 years.

Of course, Hamas' reluctance to change, as opposed to continuing to get everything and everybody else to change.

In its failed attempt to achieve its objectives, is reflected in its pointless retention of its non-policy of 'not accepting Israel's right to exist.'

After all, what advantage does such as imbicilic 'pon-policy' confers onto Hamas and/or the Palestinians?

Yes, none. It does not matter whether or not Hamas 'accepts' Israel's right to exist.

The fact is that Israel EXISTs.

And neither Hamas nor any other organisation or State - barring the mutually destructive use of nuclear weapons - can effect the 'de-existance' of Israel.

Therefore, it is illogical and counter-productive for Hamas to retain such a non-policy.

Simply to appease the backward and fundamentalist elements in its rank and file and leadership members.

Hamas loses more, by retaining this piece of anachronism, than it would have gained by removing it.

Hamas needs to jettison the intellectual morons within its rank, who are insisting on it not accepting Israel's right to exist.

Israel exist, whereas the independent State of Palestine does not. It is a fatuous case to argue that, 'because the independent State of Palestine does not yet exist, then the right of the State of Israel to exist, should or must be denied.

Prudent leaders do not unnecessarily hold up negotiation their case, by inserting nonsensical issues, which are then seize on by other parties as 'unresolvable issues.

Unless it is the intention of Hamas that no progress should be made in negotiating the creation of an independent and viable Palestinian State.

An objective which can only be achieved and maintain by such a State working and coexisting with the State of Israel.

After all, who or what authority determines the 'right of a state to exist', if not the power of those who wish 'create' it, and those who support its creation?

It suggests a certain lack of good faith by Hamas' leadership. Not surprisingly, Israel, which is used to game playing itself, can be seen to have some credibility in questioning Hamas' sincerity to its limited reformist steps.

Still, Hamas, could be on the right road, but it will have to do much more and and quicken the  pace of change, if you are to break the bonds of the past, to which you are tied.

Hamas is already in the grip of of inertia, having become a prisoner of the past. To free itself from such a vice-like grip, it needs constructive, but radical reformist action.
