IRAN'S PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION - HASSAN ROUHANI THE ONLY LOGICAL CHOICE! PART 1.

And so, it seems to me, that the best way for the people of Iran to continue to move forward and realise their full potential.  As a prosperous nation, and more economically, politically and socially advanced people. And to take their deserved place in their region and the world, is to re-elect Hassan Rouhani as their President.

On Friday 19th May 2017, the people of Iran have the privilege of going to the polls to vote on who should be there next President.

With the two main choices being that of opting for continuity and stability, and voting for the current incumbent, President Hassan Rouhani.

Or choosing the way of a new and unknown and untried path, and voting for Candidate Ebrahim Raisa, of the Combatant Clergy Association.

Candidate Raisa, it appears, is considered to be more conservative in his approach towards international affairs, and to be more acceptable to the proverbial 'ordinary working people of Iran.

Than his competitor, Rouhani, of the Moderation and Development Party. Who, it is reported, has greater appeal to the young forward looking and intellectual people of Iran.

Of course, both candidates are clerics, which is unlikely to make them particularly ideal candidates for Iranians who might find secularism more appealing than religious doctrines.

Or to Iranians who are, indeed, religious, but prefers it to not be occupying the main ground in their country's political, moral and social life.

Notwithstanding such considerations, there comes a time in the life and history of a people and their country.

When best or most propitious national leaders or movement, might not appear to be the best vehicle to help them to progress.

But, on closer scrutiny and thorough analysis, will have been found to be the best one at that time and stage in their journey.

Iran is a large country with a population of 80+ million people, 60 per cent of whom are understood to be below the age of 30 years old.

Iran's people are educated and enterprising. What is holding the country back, is probably its ruling religious and political elites.

Who are pulling strings, even though they might not be in the government.

What is holding Iran back, also, in its attempt to realise its full economic, political, social, regional and international potential.

Is the restraining and containing international policies of Israel, America and Nato, which are being applied to the State of Iran.

Even before all of these factors came into play, Iran's development had been significantly and adversely impacted by the brutal 8 year Iran-Iraq War.

Which was fought between the middle of 1980-1988. A war in which the American government supported the Iraqi Regime of Saddam Hussein, in his invasion of Iran.

Compare that with America subsequently turning against Saddam Hussein, and invading Iraq just 3 years after the Iran-Iraq War.

To launch its 'Desert Storm' Attack on the country.'

And still the clock continues to turn full circle and the ironies of ironies continue. With Iran and Iraq now having an accommodation and alliance of sort.

And both countries having an uneasy 'alliance of convenience' with America, in their joint endeavours against IS/Daesh.

Politics and international relations, it seems, are all about mutual expediences and conveniences between different countries at different times in their changing history. And ebbing and flowing as does the ocean.

But enough of that for now,

To be continued.
