EUROPE AND THE WORLD AT A TRANSFORMATIONAL PERIOD IN HISTORY? PART 4.

The world is in crisis but scarce are the leaders who are capable and willing to provide it with the leadership the people need to improve their conditions. Macro threatens the Syrian and Russian governments with unilateral military action in Syria, days after becoming President of France.   Whereas, Merkel, correctly, signals to Europe that Europe must become her own master and protector, as she cannot depends on the Americans and British.

Continuing in the same vein, still travelling eastward, we come across Iran and her people. 

A nation which has been in existence long before many, if not all of the nation states of Europe, and definitely before America. 

But also a country which the American government has demonised, and is currently conspiring to make war with. 

East of Iran we move to Afghanistan, and here, we are confronted with a conflict which began between Afghans. Before it was transformed into something else, something bigger. 

Following the intervention by the Americans, first, to support the Mujahideen fighting the Russian involvement, in the 1980s.  

And then, as of 2001, with the American and Nato invasion to begin the so-called 'war against terror.' 

Travel south of Afghanistan and we are into Pakistan, which has also been beset for decades with internal religious and tribal strife, being fomented by Sunni demagogues against Shia and Christians.

East of Pakistan and we have the on-going conflict over the disputed Jammu and Kashmir region, between Pakistan, and India, to the south. 

Two countries which could not live in peace while they were one entity, and are still unable to do so, now that they are two separate entities. 

Move farther eastwards, and we are into China, and, if we move to the southern regions of China, we come to the South China Sea. 

Where there are longstanding disputes between China and some of the nations whose land masses border the SCS, such as the Philippines, Vietnam, et al. 

A potential conflict area, where the Americans are also testing out their military and political muscles.
