JUST A THOUGHT - THE BATTLE FOR AFGHANISTAN'S ILLUSIVE PEACE! PART 1.

Afghanistan, it seems to me, has been and, to a large extent, continues to be a feudal and tribal society. 

To add to the problems which are associated with feudal and tribal societies, Afghanistan is also an Islamic society, with rifts and tensions between different Muslim sects.

The British and other former colonial powers have been involved in exerting their influence over the people and territory of Afghanistan for centuries. 

Russia's most recent role in the 'struggle for Afghanistan took place in the 1980s, when it backed a socialist/communist takeover of the country by Mohammad Najibullah. 

Who, in early 1992, but pushed out of power by Mujahideen, and then ruthlessly killed by the Taliban. 

One hundred and Fifty years after the British retreated from Kabul in 1842.All with the powerful aid of the United States of America. 

Yes, the very same America which, following the 9/11 catastrophic attack on the United States by Bin Laden's Al Queda. 

Was to turn against theirTaliban protege, in a vicious war which is still continuing, a full 26 years after. 

Notwithstanding the fact that the Americans have been joined in this war their Nato allies.

And still, there is no likely end in sight for this war, which is ravaging not only the lives and livelihood of the long suffering people of Afghanistan, but the very future and viability of the Afghan nation. 

What with the many thousands of Afghans, including the intelligentsia, who, in their despair, are leaving the country for Europe, America and other countries. 

I mean, imagine a situation where every Afghan under the age of, say, 30 years old, have never known a time when their country was not at war? 

That is a very despairing and desperate situation. With people having become resigned to it, Inshallah, or, as is more likely to be the case, Allah not willing. 

But the Taliban and 'Islamic State wanting it to be so. Or the more desperate Afghans, who have the means to do so, fleeing the country. 

To become migrants and refugees in countries where tribal, political and religious conflicts have not become a way of life.

So, will this perennial, murderous and extremely destructive war, which has been the curse of Afghans and their country ever end?

Will Afghan farmers ever be able to plant their fields, till their land and reap and sell their crops, without being threatened and be afflicted by the demands of the Taliban and the government forces? 

Will Afghan ever be able to build and maintain the necessary economic, social and political infrastructures they need to bring and keep the country in the 21st Century? 

Will the people of Afghanistan ever be able to loosen the archaic bonds which Islamic religious orthodoxy has placed upon them, and continue to retard their development?
