MAKING AMERICA GREAT AGAIN - WHAT DEFINITION, WHICH PERIOD? PART 1.

If we are not careful, we become at risk of 'miragifying ' the future, to such an extent that we are never going to realise the fruition of our vision.

Similarly, not having lived in the distant past, we are in danger of harbouring inaccurate images of what it was like for the people who lived it.

Because, not having shared the same space and time with them, we can never truly experience what those before us have gone through and have experienced.

And, even if we could, it would not profit them or us anything. Therefore, we should avoid cogitating on the past, live the present and aspire toward building a better and more inclusive future for all.

That is probably what makes a nation 'great.' A 'great country', is after all, not necessarily a 'great' nation. As the former is bestowed by nature, whereas the latter has to be inspired and built by the people.

President Donald Trump is going to 'make America Great Again.' He is going to 'magatise' the nation by using the 'America First' standard to the country's relationship with the the rest of the world.

Including its neighbours, Canada and Mexico.

Prime Minister Theresa May, of the United Kingdom, is going to 'make Britain great again.' By implementing the wishes of 52 per cent of the British electorate to have the country secede from the European Union.  And go it alone, in their endeavour to find the nations fortune.

Newly elected President Macron, of France, will no doubt have his own plans on how he is 'going to make France great again.

Including him putting on notice the Russian and Syrian governments, of his intention to bomb government forces and other assets.  If the Syrian government were to, in my view, criminally and illogically, use chemical weapons against its people and opposition forces.

There is a malady which is afflicting our current crop of national leaders. A malady which is not new, but, instead, seems to be one which leaders and aspiring leaders are particularly prone to contract.

That of making things 'great.' All leaders are capable of making 'great promises' about what they are going to do for you, for us, the people, for the nation and the country.

However, only 'great leaders' are able to sufficiently realise the promises which they have made. And this, they can only do with the support or servitude of their people.

Which means that 'great leaders' have be capable of inspiring, uniting and motivating their people.

Not just a small proportion of their people, but a large proportion.  And then using them as motivators of even a greater proportion of the people.

Unless, that is, this 'great leader' intends to rely on the support of a proportion of the people and the coercion, servitude and oppression of others, as his/her means of realising their 'greatness.'

To be continued.
