EUROPE AND THE WORLD AT A TRANSFORMATIONAL PERIOD IN HISTORY? PART 7.

Across the Atlantic we go, and here, in the formerly great United States of America.

We find the newly elected President Donald Trump, busily dismantling the conventions, institutions, and ethos, which, many people would argue, had been the things which had given America the appearance of being 'great.'

I say 'formerly great', because, in arguing that he wants to make America 'great again', President Trump is suggesting, if not asserting.

That America 'is not great' anymore, and he is not saying so by way of humility, but rather, in a selfish way.

I have not touched on what is happening in the southern hemisphere of North America. Where gang warfare, unemployment and endemic poverty is the daily challenge of significant proportions of many of the countries in the region.

And where probably most of the people, if they were able to do so, might have moved up North to the United States.

The modern day embodiment, for millions of people, of the ancient promised 'land of milk and honey.'

Although, for millions of Americans, it is the land of a promise unfulfilled and never will be fulfilled.

As probably nearly as many Americans as South Americans must, on a daily basis, contend with gang warfare, which should probably be seen as and fought as the terrorism which it really is. As well as drugs addiction and crime, and endemic poverty.

Is there a greater status to suffering their deprivations in the United States, as opposed to the countries of Central and South America?

Probably not, but the power of the myth is strong, even though it will always only prove to be true for the minority, and not the majority.

The myth that 'everybody can make it big and be successful in America, if they work hard enough.'

And so it is that, President Trump's America, has set itself against the ideals of international cooperation with the other nations of the world.

Except for those whose leaders are willing to prostrate themselves and their people towards promoting 'American exceptionalism'.

Towards prioritising 'America First', in all things. Job creation, producition, climate protection or destruction, and international trade.

As well as building the 'Great Wall of Shame and Infamy', between America and Mexico.

So that this soon to be 'great again', nation, can keep the jobless and despairing, but aspiring masses from leaving their homes in the southern Americas, for what they believe to be the 'Eldorada of the North.'

So, what have we gotten regarding where we are at today, when we look at the existing 'world order'?

Militarily, we have the United States of America as the existing 'top dog and top gun.' A position it is still committed to keeping, at nearly any cost to the rest of the world.

To be continued.
