The United Kingdom, which should be playing a significant role in helping to transform our conflicted world into something better. 

Has, as a result of its Brexitisation, and its confusion about what should be its role in the world, placed itself in a position of acute disempowerment. 

It seems to no longer know 'whether it is coming or going', as the saying goes. And is therefore unable to viewed with much confidence.

The Middle East, tragically, continues to be what it has been for the past decades.

A place of religious conflict and intolerance, cultural and political orthodoxy, and the ossification of relations between Israel and the Palestinians. 

Except that it has become more so now, with the Saudi semi-destruction of Yemen, its role in taking Syrian to the bring of destruction of its sovereignty, and her current attempt to occupy Qatar.

It is quite clear that, what the world needs, now, is prudent and competent leadership. 

Something of which it has been bereft throughout the 'American tenure' of 'leading the world', or, as some would phrase it, 'the free world.'

New world leadership is clearly need, if humans are to evolve to a better place than where we are at present. 

This leadership needs to have the right level of prudence, with an appropriate balance between tough pragmatism and compassionate and enlightened vision. 

A correct balance between taking tough action to avoid societal chaos and anarchy, and promoting peaceful and prosperous living between all people. 

Nationally, regionally and internationally. It needs to be able to promote the ideas and concepts, the things which are manifestations of our common and shared humanity. 

Which enables us to identify with each other, and not those which separate, conflict and undermine us travelling peacefully and in comfort along the journey of life. 

Towards our common destiny. The world need leadership which is capable and willing to join the human race in a common endeavour to achieve the ultimate goal of our human species.

  So, what are my thoughts about Hamas' unprecedented attack on parts of Israel, which has resulted in hundreds of men, women and children, some of them soldiers, being killed and thousands of Israelis becoming shocked and traumatised as they have probably never experienced before? Diplomacy ought to be the process by which nations, through their governments, establish and maintain mutually beneficial and peaceful relationships between them; Diplomacy is not, like the Gulf Cooperation Council members and their allies, including Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Bahrain and the UAE states, trying to bully and intimidate Qatar into doing their bidding, by surrendering its sovereignty.  Neither is diplomacy what the American government is doing, in using sanctions to force the governments of states of Iran, Russia and North Korea, into complying with its demands.  About what action they should or should not take in pursuing what they consider to be in the interest of their countries and people.  No, none of this is diplomacy. Rather it is method of force and compulsion, which is not synonymous with principle or practice of diplomacy.  Which is about the art of establishing and maintaining peaceful and mutually beneficial relationships between different countries.
