ISLAMIC STATE'S WAR AGAINST THE WORLD - THE NEED FOR A MORE SYSTEMATIC RESPONSE. PART 6.

Is this something which can be dealt with by just doing nothing, on the premis that, with Muslims being a minority in the West, overtime, the influence of Islam will be reduced and it becomes more 'westernised', losing its more oppressive aspects?

Liberal democracies can no more ban religions than they can ban different ethnic groups, without seriously compromising their claim to liberality and 'democracy.'

At the same time, it would be suicidal of them not to take effective steps to protect their survival.  Especially when, arguably, the liberal democracies of the west, are more advanced than much of their counterparts in Islamic societies.

So, no, it is not about banning Islam in the West.  It is about how to make 'Western Islam' more compatible with the liberal democratic spirit which is, some would say, the 'life-blood' of western life-style.

It is about how do western societies and governments, can better integrate the different ethnic groups which are increasingly becoming the reality of their 'multi-ethnic' populations.

Into becoming 'one people, out of many different ethnic groups'.

With a common vision and national identity and loyalty to the country in which they live.

And not to tthose where their fathers and mothers originated.  Or to the religions, customs and practices of their 'spiritual homes.'

When those practices, customs and versions of their religions are not consistent and are in serious conflict with the national and liberal interests of the society in which they are now living.

In other words, it is not sufficient for a liberal society to have people of discrete ethnic groups living in separate but contiguous enclaves.

By which they can readily be identified by the countries where their forebears are from.

Especially as this kind of social organisation allows for the replication and continuation of many of the old enmities and mindsets operating in their countries from which they or their parents originated.

The emphasis has to be on all the people of the particular nation, by a process of prudent active governance, evolving into truly becoming one people with a common vision.

Only by being able to successfully do so, can the 'liberal democracies' hope to survive in a state of good health.

And not replicate the fate of their past strife ridden former selves. Which is also the fate of many of the countries from which many more recent migrants are hailing from.

To be continued.
