A CONVERSATION WITH GOD. PART 25

For thousands of years, humans, first the priests, shaman, and the clergy, and then the ordinary people, have sought to speak with the gods, and then for the gods.

Always being secure in the knowledge that the gods would not denounce what they have reported of these conversations. So, why have the gods remained silent? Why have the gods chosen not to speak for themselves?

T.: So, G. In summary, then, you are a god who who has been described and attributed by humans as having various qualities.

The Muslims and the Christians have described you as being great, being beneficent, compassionate and merciful.

Some have also described you as being a 'vengeful god.' Whereas others, including the Jihadists, and the followers of Al Queda and 'Islamic State', revel in committing the most atrocious acts of cruelty and killing, in 'honour of your name.'

G.: Yes, T. That is so.

T.: You, G., we have been told, is a divine god, who is worthy of being praised, for having created the world and all that there are within and without it, including us humans.

The Christians close their eyes and make the sign of the cross and pray to you.

The Muslims turn their faces toward Mecca, probably visualising the Kabaa, and bow down on their knees, 5 times a day, and pray to you.

Also probably believing that they can only access you through the Prophet Muhammad, as do the Christians, through their Prophet, Christ.

G.: That, also, is correct, T. Although, as I have already stated, I take no responsibility for any of the things which humans have attributed to me.

T.: Indeed, so much praying has been going on since religions have been formalised and dispensed to the masses. That, had it been for a matter of prayer and praying, we might have expected that humans would now be living in a perfect world.

But that is clearly not the case, neither will it ever be so.

Humans pray to you, G. Asking for many things, including personal wealth, good health and for peace and prosperity in the world.

And yet, G., what we see is that there is increasing greed, poverty, deprivation, conflict and the absence of peace in the world.

There even seems to be an adverse correlation between the amount of praying and beseeching of you, G., by humans, and the amount of conflict and unhappiness in the world.

Which is probably not all that surprising, as conflicts between the different religions and their particular worldviews, probably constitute the main causes of conflict between humans.

To be continued.
