.FUTURE CONTEMPLATION OF THE YOUNG AND THE OLD. PART 1.

In many respects, for both the young and the old, the future is full of certainties. 

Indeed, it could be said that the future is full of only certainties,  including the fact that there is the certainty that it has uncertainties.

For the old, the future  might be perceived of with either resignation or fear.  

Since the old knows that the time approaches when they must or have no choice but to depart from the world. 

And it might be said, that, blessed are those who confronts it, not with dread.  

But with the resignation and acceptance of humans who have been fortunate enough to have led a balanced life, within the ranges of states of happiness and  unhappiness. 

In the certainty that it is not given to any human, while they live, not to have inhabited both states, at sometime,while they live. 

Who can now look their approaching destiny in the face, and beckons it to come and take them. 

The successor of old age is the certainty of death, which will be meted out to all, whether or not they are fearful of it. 

And so it is, that many, if not all, knowing that they will die, focus their minds on the uncertainty which they might well fear. 

That of, how will I die? Will I have an easy and relatively painless passage? Or am I fated to be afflicted and tortured by some dreadful illness or disease? 

A thing or thought which holds more fear for the many; when they do engage their minds on the subject. 

For it is not the end, which is or might be feared so much, since it is a painless state of disassembled consciousness or energy. 

But rather the process of the ending; the means of ones end, which can lead to this fear. 

Of course, it might be better termed anxiety, rather than fear, since the fear, if any, will follow on from the method of ones passing. 

If one is allowed, by the process of their passing, more than a brief time to experience any fear.
