AMERICA'S AMBIVALENCE TOWARDS ITS PAST, AS IT STRUGGLES TOWARDS A MORE RACIALLY INCLUSIVE FUTURE PART 1.

If us sentient humans are to continue to evolve into increasingly more enlightened and tranquil beings.  Then it is incumbent upon us, that, we are continuously observing ourselves, the impact of our behaviour on ourselves and our habitat, and strive to achieve symmetry and synchronicity.

Probably more than anything else, it is crucial that we review and evolve, develop, our beliefs about the past.  And not try to maintain their professed 'purity' and arbitrarily make them an alter or shrine to our future, as the past cannot be the way to the future. But rather an obstacle, if it is used to condition the future.

In her moment of reflection and re-examination, on her journey of hoped for more enlightenment, America, or, rather, the United States of America, is at war with it self again, after 156 years of the start of  its murderous 4 year Civil War.

A monumental slaughtering which was visited upon the land, 78 years after the ending of the 8 year War of Independence the Americans fought against their British colonial masters.

Like the ACW, America's War of Independence was an equally bloody and destructive affair, even though it was fought at a period when revolution and 'the rights of man', was in vogue.

With the Robespierrean French Revolution of 1789, taking place only 6 years after it ended.

Americans are today, re-examining their 'heroes' of old, in order to determine whether and which of them still deserve their esteemed position in history.

It has been said that history tends to be written by the victors of great battles.

By the prevailing dominant forces, whether they are religious, cultural, ethnic, economic and/or social forces within any society.

If this is so, then we can imagine a situation in which what is, has, in time become the accepted status quo, a kind of 'natural law', as it were.

Not being question, because questioning it would be considered sacrilegious, until one bright and courageous spark - a Salmon Rushdist - dared to put his or her head above the parapet.

Declaring: 'look, this so-called self-evident truth does not make any sense. It is only a half-truth, at best, and, at worst, a damn lie.'

Resulting in great consternation, as the prevailing 'social peace, might have been founded, in time, on those very half-truths or damn lies.

Begging the question: Does it really matters, seeing that we now have peace and stability, that they are founded upon lies and fiction?

If the people are reassured by their belief in what is actually falsehoods and myths, does it really benefit anybody to deprive them of that reassurance, by asserting that 'Father Christmas' is an invention which has been blown out of all proportion?

Some people would argue that it does matter, which is not to say that would be a call for creating chaos, in order to acknowledge and improve the principles and infrastructure on which the existing social order has evolved.

To be continued.
