JUST A THOUGHT - ON HOW 'THE CUT' IS PROBABLY THE WORST EUPHEMISM FOR ADULTS TORTURING CHILDREN! PART 5.

Well, when acts of barbarity, in the form of  systematically and 'socially legitimised' gross violence and cruelty, oppression and the dehumanisation of other humans.  

For whatever reasons, are accorded the dubious 'honour' of being labelled as 'cultural', it is time for the people who so indulge in them, to take a serious look at themselves. 

And ask themselves the question: 'What the hell are we doing, what have we become, how did we allow ourselves to become stuck in the past, when other people have progressed?'

Yes, because such a society is suffering from socially and intellectually arrested development. 

It is a society which is not showing itself to be in charge of how its culture develops and advances. As opposed to being kept and practised in it original but now incongruous form. 

With the rest of humanity changing and progressing, while it lazily and cowardly seeks refuge in the 'traditions of our people.' Even though those traditions have become a millstone holding back the advancement of the people.

Such a society is, instead, being controlled by its culture. The animate allowing itself to be controlled by the inanimate. 

The thinking, fearfully allowing themselves to be controlled by a culture which belongs, if ever it did, to the past, and presents a great obstacle to its people achieving a better future. 

Looked at logically and rationally, there really is no justification for perpetrating the brutal practice of Female Genital Mutilation on girls and young women. 

Not even spurious justification. So, why is it still taking place? Is it really about 'right of passage', the transition from childhood to womanhood? 

Well, if ever it was, it was still a brutal 'ceremony' in the past, and it is still as brutal today. 

And it is only humane that it should be condemned and criminalise as, not only a human rights issue, but as a gross criminal act. 

Today's world does not need to value a woman according to the value 'primitive society' places on her, as a sexual partner, as a bearer and carer of children, and for her economic value to the family. 

That is a past from which all women, and all enlightened men would want their female counterparts to escape from.
