IN THE PSYCHIATRIST' CHAIR WITH THE UNITED STATES OF 'BORN VICTIM' AMERICA!. PART 8.

I mean, the American armed forces have over 1.4 million men and women in them.  So they should be able to protect the American people, if that is really their role. Right?  

On the other hand, if the government which controls the armed forces is the potential enemy of the people, then you can see why the people need their guns. Do you follow me? 

Thereapist.: Yeah, I think I do.

Usa.: But, even that don't make a great deal of sense. Because, Americans love their armed forces, yet, these are the same armed forces which the government, when it wants to, would unleash on the people. You see what I mean?

Therapist.: So, what, then, Usa? Do you think that the American government is there to serve someone else's interests.  

Other than that of the ordinary people what to protect their right to carry and use arms to protect them from their government?  

If so, who or what might that be? After all, Americans have been conditioned not to trust their government and to circumscribe its reach and role over them as much as possible.

Usa.: Well, I don't, man. I just think it is better not to trust anybody other than yourself; and, of course, the power of your guns. Anybody try to f... with you, you blow their f...... head off, man.

Therapist.: Do you really think that that is the solution or the best way of dealing with the problem, Usa?

Usa.: I don't know, man. Why should I know, I am just an ordinary guy. Trying to get on with my life as best I can; the same way how my dad and his dad before him had done. 

Why should I change now; its our tradition, man. This is how we do things here, how we have always done it. 

People respect power, man, and the gun is power. Nobody fucks with you when you have a gun. Unless they have more guns than you or more powerful ones. Or they attack you when you are not aware of it.

Therapist.: In a nutshell, Usa, you do not have the motivation to make any changes, and you have not yet decided that you want to change. 

You have convinced yourself that you need to carry and use guns to protect yourself from yourself.  Because you do not trust capability to protect yourself without guns. 

You have come to see me, because you want to appear to be seen to be taking the problem of gun violence seriously. And..
