JUST A THOUGHT - GERMANY'S MISFORTUNE IS A CRISIS WHICH THE WEST AND THE WORLD DOES NOT NEED! THE END!

'It is inconceivable that, in a time of war or responding to the threat of some profound internal catastrophe.

The political parties of any responsible and prudent nation, would insist on having and pursuing their own separate plans and strategies to fight the enemy.

And yet, in a time of peace, of threatened peace, they do insist on going their separate ways; pulling in opposite directions and weakening the resolve of the nation. Why?

And herein lies the dilemma, the paradox of the Western European or European more representative model of liberal democratic electoral system.

That the weakness of the German electoral system, is probably also its 'representative and democratic' strength.which is also its strength.

So, how is the German people and crisical government going to resolve this crisis?

Angela Merkel does not want to be leading a weak minority government which could fall at the first, second or third serious obstacle.

She wants to lead a strong coalition government, one in which she can continue to be the German Iron Lady.

This is understandable, although Angela Merkel should be mindful of the last national leader, Prime Minister Theresa May.  Who went to the polls asking the electorate to give her a strong mandate, only to find herself being given a reduced one.

Martin Schulz is probably relishing being given a second opportunity to make the big impact he had expected to make in the last election.

However, both he and the Afd should be aware of the danger of exasperating and/or taking the German electorate for granted.

In that the electorate might punish them for not wanting to cooperate and work together for the common good of the country.

The German President, Herr Steinmeier, is loathed to have another election and leave the country in a state of comparative  instability, with it taking several months to organise new elections.

The strength of a more representative electoral system, is that it enables more political parties and the electorate they represent. To be represented in government, by way of a coalition government.

It is probably what differentiates this model of electoral system most, from the 'democratic weaknesses' of the First Past the Post British model.

And now, it is up to Germany's political parties to, in the words of the German President, carry out their responsibility, and, in effect, do their duty and create order, so as to avoid the chaos which now threatens to envelope Germany.

With the retreat of the United States of America into isolationism.  The enigmatic disengagement of the United Kingdom from Europe, via Brexit, and the attempted containment and alienation of Russia by the West.

Germany has a crucial and bigger role to play in providing collective leadership to the world. And promoting economic growth and stability.

However, before she can continue to perform this role, Germany must have a viable and strong government.

This, then, is the challenge which confronts Angela Merkel, and her prospective coalition partners. cannot begin to addresses the challenges which confronts it, by forming an effective government.

It can and has been done already, so, it is just a matter of the possible and probable coalition partners putting aside their egos and personal ambitions, and giving priority to the stability and prosperity of Germany.

By responding positively to their President, and doing it. Doing their duty by serving the common and collective interests of Germany and the German people.
