JUST A THOUGHT - THE LONG COUP AND SLOW FALL OF ROBERT MUGABE? PART 1.

So, can the long suffering people of that forlorn African country, Zimbabwe, formerly Rhodesia, not get anything right? 

Or, rather, can they not prove themselves efficient in anything other than standing by and/or being a part of the country sinking in its own man-induced poverty and despair? 

Can they not show themselves to be efficient in ridding themselves of Robert Mugabe and his crooked regime? 

Having began the apparent coup, can they not complete it swiftly and efficiently?  

Thereby reducing the risk of the 'criminals' who are reported by the Zimbabwean Army to have surrounded the President, but who are probably more likely to have been chosen by the President to surround him. 

The time to plan and arrange a counter coup, and reduce the chances of the coup, if that is what it really is, succeeding?

Have the 'coup plotters' not learnt anything from the failed coup against Turkey's President Erdogan, and from the profound consequences of such failure?

The Zimbabwean Army has intervened in the internecine ruling Zanu-PF struggle to back one of the competing factions.  

Albeit disingenuously, by using the pretext of apprehending "criminals surrounding " the long discredited Prime Minister, Robert Mugabe. 

How disingenuous this pretext is can be seen from the fact that it would have been the police's duty to intervene to apprehend such alleged 'criminals', and not the Army's. 

But, be that as it may, there are times when desired objective of the perpetrators of an action or conspiracy does not come to pass, and something good comes out of their actions. This is such an occasion.

The problem for the Army and the Zimbabwean people, in this still unresolved situation, is that the Army is now having second thoughts.  

With external players, including the South African and Pan-African and regional organisations intervening and adding to the complexity of the situation. 

Not to mention the still competing Zanu-PF factions, all of which, along with the Military leadership, are closely associated with some of the "criminal elements" which the Army stated, is the objective of its intervention.

So, what should the Army do? Well, it needs to be clear about its mission or objectives, and prepared itself appropriately, if it is to be successful.
