JUST A THOUGHT - ON SPANISH CATALAN'S TRAGEDY, AND THE IMPERMANENCE OF THE ALLURE OF THE 'INDEPENDENCE FERVOUR! PART 1.

'Arguably, there is no inherent virtue in a nation or regional people becoming independent. 

Whether or not the people support the proffered case for 'independence', will, in part, be influenced by the circumstances - political, economic, social and the personal and societal cost - and the timing of the call for independence. 

What contemporary humans probably desire most, is their economic and social independence and security, and not that they are independent of global family. 

This we can see from examples such as Scotxit Brixit, Iraqi Kurdistan, and, now, Spanish Catalan. Nationalism is not a banner which has much appeal for the global citizen, whose loyalties and worldview both include and transcend the personal, the national and the  transnational.'

Those Spanish Catalan and Iraqi Kurdish people who are aspiring to become independent from the rest of their respective nation, have had their highs, and are now having to suffer, to endure what is transpiring to be a terrible low. 

And yet, probably nobody who has ever been intoxicated by, or who can appreciate the feeling of euphoria which is associated to people's dreams and aspirations of 'becoming and independent people or nation.'  

Could fail to have some empathy with Catalan Spanish and Kurdish Iraqis who want to 'become independent.' 

That is not to say that such a person would, ipso fact, be in agreement with or supportive of people who strive for their 'independence.' 

It is not as straightforward and simply as that, and we need to consider the circumstances from which independence is being sought.

After all, what is the 'natural evolution of a family', of whatever species? 

Is it not that the parents and other members of the family cares for the vulnerable offsprings, until they are able to branch out into the proverbial wide world and fend for themselves?  

Even though, within certain species, including the human one, there might be a safety net.  Whereby any sibling who flounder, might have the option of temporarily returning to the family nest?
