JUST A THOUGHT - THE KILLING OF FORMER YEMENI PRESIDENT ABDUL SALEH; A TRAGIC SACRIFICE TO PEACE IN YEMEN? THE END..!

And how was it that former President Saleh was killed, apparently so easily? Why was he not better guarded, protected by his own forces, when it was clear that his actions had imperilled his life greatly?

Could it have been that he had lost favour with his own forces, and that some of them might have had a hand in his untimely demise? Which, sadly, has been the fate of too many Yemenis?

Be that as it may, could the killing of former President Saleh and his companions.

As, indeed, the killing and maiming of the many thousands of Yemenis who have been the victims of this brutal war.

Be enough of an offering to appease the gods of death and destruction?

Might not the warring forces be now satisfied and call a halt to this pyrrhic war?

Might they not now sue for peace, arrange a ceasefire and start negotiations to bring this pointless waste of lives and livelihoods to an end?

We can but hope.

However, with the response of the Americans, the British and the Saudi led coalition being to 'punish the Houthis and the Yemeni people in general.

With an intensification in their aerial bombing, it would appear that the gods of war have not been sufficiently appeased as yet.

That they are still demanding the death, maiming and starvation and displacement of more Yemenis.

And what can be said of the combatants.?

Just that the Americans, the British and the Saudi and their Sunni allies who are doing the killing, the maiming, the displacement of Yemenis, and the destruction of their country, are cowards.

Because they perpetrate their perfidy from afar, at no risk to their own lives and livelihood. Whereas the Houthis and other Yemenis are paying in blood and limbs and the destruction of their livelihoods.

Wars are always more easily prosecuted perpetuate by the perpetrators who have little more than the non-human consumerables to lose.

And, when some of the protagonists, like the Americans and the British, stand to make more money from selling more arms to the Saudi coalition, there is an added incentive for continuing it.

So, the gods help the Yemenis, who must live in hope that some unexpected development will conspire to bring them the peace which has proved to have been so elusive for the past 57 or so years.

And then again, considering the sofar outcome of the endeavours of both the Yemeni leaders and, yes, Allah.  Prudence would suggest that, like people in all nations should be doing.

It is incumbent on ordinary Yemenis to take hold of their fate, and work towards achieving the peace and prosperity which they, the ordinary people aspire for.

And eschew their leaders and the prophets, whose desire and aspiration is to have and maintain their power over the people, and bring them death, great suffering and destruction in their attempt to do so.

years.
