JUST A COMMENTARY - ON THE PASSING OF A MUCH LOVED FRIEND. THE END..!

And so it was that it was thoughts such as these which occupied my mind. As I and probably 30-40 other mourners congregated into the little purpose built, modern Crematoria, to pay our last respects to our dear friend.

This service was not one given over to religious dogma. Instead, it was repleted with a rustic reflections on and the celebration of the life of our dear friend.

Beginning with Jim Reeves classic song, Welcome to World. Which I thought was somewhat incongruous, considering, I felt, the world of our friend was and is now the world of the dead.

Though she continues to live in  and through our reflections of the life, as it were, which we shared with her in the past.

While our world remains, for now, that of the living. And yet, this is something we can be philosophical and flexible about.

Following the recounting of our dear friend's life, in a finite number of words, the officiating officer played the second hymn. That of Amazing Grace.

A most beautiful song, which was written, in part, at least, by a slave-trader turned Christian minister, John Newton.

Following the playing of this most resonating of songs, the congregation was asked to participate in the saying of The Lord's Prayer. Not being able to share the sentiments of TLP, I resolved to  bowing my head, respectfully.

At the end of the playing of Stevie Wonder's, I Just Called To Say I Love You, the ceremony ended.

And we made our to a hotel some miles away, to enjoy a banquet and reminisce with friends we might not have seen for a long time.

And strangers who might not have known of us, or have known of us only through the shared experiences they have had with our dear mutual and departed friend.

Before we return to continuing our journey of life. Promising ourselves, again, that we will redoubled our effort to live it well and make the most of it, as life is too short to spend it in a state of unhappiness, or in causing unhappiness for others.
