JUST A THOUGHT - ON THE BRITISH DILEMMA AND HOW THE 'DEMOCRATIC WILL' COULD LEAD THE NATION TO HELL! PART 1

There are times in the life of a nation, when its rulers, its government, might be only too happy to allow the electorate to take the responsibility, the blame, for things going catastrophically wrong. 

This is more likely to occur in countries that rely on the people, through what has become known as the 'democratic process of free and fair elections.'  

To make snap decisions on which political party/ies should form their government, or to use referendums, to make major decisions.  Such as Britain deciding to leave the European Union.

If the people make the 'wrong decision' in electing the wrong political party to form the government.  

Then, in a 'democracy', they can probably undo the decision, although not necessarily the consequences of their decision, by voting them out at the next election. 

But what happens when the electorate got it wrong, as they are believed to have done in the Brexit referendum? 

How are they going to get the opportunity to change that decision, and undo the catastrophic damage which is being done?

Is it really the case that the British government must deny itself the responsibility of prudent governments to lead and govern their people wisely, responsibly?  

And not simply follow the unsafe, the costly path to the disaster which is awaiting the nation? Simply on the basis of following the 'democratic will of just over half of the electorate?'

It must be excruciatingly difficult for millions of Britons to accept that interpretation of the 'democratic will of the electorate', especially when it has the backing of just over half of those who voted for it. 

We can imagine how terrible and frustrating it is for the British people; those who oppose their country, their Union, leaving the European Union. 

Knowing only too well the great uncertainty which awaits them. Knowing that this could mean not only the death of many British businesses and livelihoods.
