JUST A THOUGHT - ON CARILLIONS BEING ALLOWED TO DIE, AND THE RESPONSIBILITY OF GOVERNMENTS. PART 2.

We would not expect our government to ignore the acute plight of a cruise liner floundering and risk sinking in the ocean.

On the premise that it is the sole responsibility of the private which owns it, to rescue it, and save the people on it.

And, where health care is concerned, we would not expect the government, let us say, of the United Kingdom, to ignore the currently serious plight of their National Health Service.

And to be taking a 'hands off approach', and declaring that they have given the NHS enough money already.

So it should either rescue itself of sink, and no longer be able to meet the health care and medical needs of the British people.

What we would expect, in both of these cases, is that the government would intervene to work with the owners of the cruise liner, if necessary, and with the NHS, to stabilise and responsibly resolve the problem.

If that means injecting a certain amount of 'tax payer's money' into the remedial action. Then, so be it, with, of course, the necessary condition regarding it being repaid later on.

After all, the owners of the cruise liner would also be tax-payers, even if the government, in their attempt to appease the populists and appeal to the basest of the political spectrum.

Might choose to think of 'tax payers' as only the ordinary 'wage earner.'

At a minimum, what we would not expect, would be for the government to take the 'Pontius Pilate' approach.

Of washing their hands of any responsibility for saving the floundering cruise liner, as we have seen the British government doing.

In the case of the now apparent death throws of Carillion. Britain's second biggest construction giant.

It is unforgivable enough, for the government to fail to carry out its social and economic responsibility.

To have taken and take effective steps to safeguard the firm and the jobs and parts of the British economy which rely on the preservation of Carillion for their livelihoods.

To be continued!
