JUST A THOUGHT - ON NATIONS' RESTRICTION ON THE LENGTH OF TENURE OF THEIR LEADERS. PART 3.

Does it makes good sense to jettison a good leader from the project of doing a good job at building a nation, simply because he/she has done their 8 or 10 year stint? 

Is the two term presidential limitation a substantial obstacle to nation building?

Anymore than it would be logical to argue that a leader which is busily taking the nation over the cliff of oblivion, like, say, President Nicholas Maduro of Venezuela, should be allowed to complete his tenure?

 There is a balance to be struct between the interests and well-being of present generations and future generations. 


Between the interest of the people and the nation as an entity which has to be maintained for more than the life-time of one or more generations. 

 There is a balance to be struck between the how much personal and social 'freedom' and 'democracy', 'human rights', the individual and the people have.  

 And how much it is restricted in order to promote nation building and preservation.

 As empathic individuals, and even groups, it is understandable that we might argue that the perceived and/or felt 'human rights' of the individual should take priority over those of the state. 


Especially if that State happens to be a country which we fear of do not like. And, sometimes, that is the problem, that we are not able to see and analyse things from the interest of the State. 

 As the chorus of the 'democracy' and 'human rights' advocates and warriors take side with the internal 'human rights' and 'democracy' advocates. 

 With little attempt to provide a deeper and more balanced analysis of oftentimes complex problems. Problems which might be more 'political' than 'human rights.' 

 That is not to say human rights issues should not be addressed sensitively and appropriately.

   It is unlikely that things were ever getting better.
