JUST A THOUGHT - ON BRITAIN'S STREET VIOLENCE AND 'STOP AND SEARCH.' PART 3.

At the same time, by not making that 'hunch-inspired approach', it is possible that an opportunity to prevent a violent crime or crimes at a later time or date, could have been missed.

Of course, probably the biggest outcry and bugbear about the British police stopping and searching members of the public.

Is the argument that they are targeting - now 'profiling' - members of the country's black population, and that they are doing so unfairly and in a 'racist manner.'

And how do the supporters and advocates of 'stop and search' respond?

Well, while the opponents of the policy and practice cite the disproportionate number of black citizens who have been stopped and searched, some of them on more than one occasion.

And, also, probably the relatively small percentage of those 'stop and search' episodes which resulted in weapons being found and/or proceedings being taken against those stopped and searched.

For those who can see some value in 'stop and search', and would argue against taking a 'taboo' or 'silver bullet' - ironic - approach of opposing it.

Their concern would include the fact that, the evidence seems to suggest that the 'culture' of violent street crimes. Is one which is having a disproportionate impact on Britain's black and 'non-white' population.

These communities appear to have a disproportionate amount of  both the victims and the perpetrators of this kind of crime.

Now, here is the real problem; how do you effectively and efficiently, cost-effectively as well, address a problem, which  seems to be predominantly affecting particular communities, as opposed to all the population.

By applying the remedial action to the whole community, in a manner which is more suggestive of a desire to be 'politically correct', than to be effective.

The beginning of the process of making positive changes, is for those who are responsible, partly or fully, for an existent problem, to accept their responsibility.

To be continued!
