IT WAS WRITTEN IN THE STARS - AN ACCOUNT OF LIVES IMPACTED BY 'EVERYDAY ADVERSITIES.' PART 17.

'Like death and bereavement, at times when we are experiencing what seems like 'our worse nightmares', we tend not to be aware of the fact that, 'our worse nighmares' are in fact no more than everyday adversities which many other people are having to contend with.'

As Mfanyazaki remembered it, this young woman, F, rang to say Kazaliwa was lying on the street, collapsed.

Mfanyazaki and Nzuri and Mzaliwa quickly got themselves ready and drove down to the street where the young woman lived.

Upon arriving there, they found Kazaliwa lying on the street, against a tree, and in a comatose state, lacking the strength to stand or walk.

And just about conscious, but not being able to make much sense or give an explanation of how he came to be in such a dire state.

Although Mfanyazaki would come to see F, who had rang them about their son, as part of the problem, for 'harbouring' Kazaliwa.

At the time, he and his wife were too shocked to consider that, had it not been for F's prompt and compassionate action in contacting them.

Their son might have died on that cold street on that night, propped up against a tree, like so many hapless drug addicts had had their miserable and sad lives expired.

In this respect, F was, indeed, for all her faults, a 'good samaritan' whose action had resulted in a life being saved.

Mfanyazaki recalled them taking Kazaliwa to the local general hospital, and how they had to wait for what seemed like a very long time, before he could be seen by the doctor.

He could recall how worried they were for their son’s health. How he had thought to himself how much of an emergency their Kazaliwa's situation was.

How he had felt that their son's case was or should have been made a priority for the medical staff's attending.

Probably not being mindful of how his probably worse nightmare might have been no more than an every day occurrence for the medics.

To be continued!
