JUST PHILOSOPHISING - ON THE IMPORTANCE OF LIVING THE LIFE YOU HAVE, TO THE BEST OF YOUR ABILITY. PART 2.

But still, for many of us who are confronted by these challenges, there will at least be the receding 'welfare safety net.'

By which the State provides a certain sum of money to enable each 'eligible' citizen and family to avail themselves of requirements to have a 'basic standard of living.'

So, is the burden of those who are trapped in the vortex of educational under-achievement, unemployment, low expectation and economic and environmental blight.

Alleviated, and their fall into the abyss of total despair or having to literally live a day at a time, avoided.

But what of the millions of people living in societies, countries where the 'pockets of great poverty and deprivation' are the norm and not the exception?

Societies which are characterised by their predominance of poverty, while the 'pockets of affluence and 'reasonable standard of living' are the exception?

Societies where probably every citizen or most citizens yearn to escape their lives of actual grind and drudge.

Of having to adjust themselves to constantly living on the edge, or, rater, existing on the edge, hoping to that they will not fall into the abyss which surrounds them?

What of the people of  cities such as Jalousie, in Haiti? What of the people in parts of India, where there is not even toilets to be used?

What of the millions of people in many parts of the world who can not avail themselves of adequate clean water to drink, cook, meet their personal hygiene needs?

Will things really get better for them, or will it get worse, as the population increases and the demands for the basics exceed the supplies?

Just as how the less fortunate in the 'pockets of deprivation and poverty' in the more affluent societies are trapped in their desolation.

To be continued!
