After all, 'being black', like 'being white' or 'Asian', et al, is not of itself, a virtuous state of being.
It is the quality of work of the person that helps to define their virtue.
This is especially so, in societies in which a person's ethnicity is used to make stereotyped assumptions about them.
In this respect, anybody who seeks to judge the value of the Duchess of Sussex on what she will or will not achieve for 'black people', are misguided and unrealistic.
The Duchess of Sussex becoming a member of the Royal Family will not, of itself, lead to it becoming 'a rainbow Royal Family.'
But it will, indeed, add some diversity to it, and make it more representative of British society.
As such, that is an achievement; progress which could also lead to more young British people of colour being able to identify with the Royal Family, if not the British Monarchy as a whole.
But, beyond this, it is probably unlikely that it is going to advance the cause of 'diversity equality' greatly.
That, however, should not be cause for any despair, but rather, of hope.
As no single event is normally solely responsible for, or is capable of effecting the fundamental structural changes, which a given society might need to be made to it.
However 'revolutionary' and desirable that event is, as is the case with the marriage of the Prince Harry to Meghan Markle.
The first challenge of the Duchess and Duke of Sussex, is that of crafting a happy and successful marriage life.
Their success in doing so, like their wedding has, in going some way towards bring the British nation together, even if for a short time.
Will, in years to come, be a measure of their success in making a positive contribution to British society and the Monarchy.
As well as of their impact, bringing an element of 'racial diversity' to the British Royal Family, and the Monarchy.
It could even have an impact on the evolution of its fate.
